We have totally 50GB of webspace. Most of our modern cams or mobile phones take photos of 8 and more MB. 1GB = 1024MB = 1,048,576kb. An 8MB heavy photo compressed to 250kb does not really lose quality to watch and enjoy it. Let me show you two short calculations with an average of 8MB or 250kb...
Example 1: 50GB = 51,200MB ... 8MB per photo = 6,400 photos
Example 2: 50GB = 52,428,800kb ... 250kb per photo = 209,715 photos!
Do you mean that 6400 photos are very much?... Only 1 photo album called "Mine is done" of 1 WPD event would contain ~4200 photos. Means: This website would be enough for only 1 year WPD! With all Personal Albums we uploaded on facebook during WPD 2021 all together between 17,000 and 18,000 photos! 😏 So even if 50GB sounds great, this space would be filled during 1 month.
But with a compression to 250kb we would have space for 32 times as much as in example 1. Besides an album of MID I would like to offer you uploads of photos in Forum or Channels. Photos often say more than 1000 words. I'm sure many of us would like to show their latest assembled puzzle.
So by following this little "rule" to compress our photos to 250kb before we upload them here, we would have enough space for all of us for many years. If you have no experience in compressing photos I can help you in this.
Here you can see that there is not really a difference between 8.5MB and 250kb. 😉
